Dean’s Message

Dear Students

The tourism industry which has made remarkable progress in recent years both in Turkey and in the world is making its way as a competitor in the fields of science and commerce. According to World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) statistics, it is estimated that the total number of tourists in the world will double up to 1,8 billion by 2030 and 1 out of 11 employees will be employed in tourism industry. For this reason, the generation which will establish our future is expected to improve themselves by recognizing the importance of tourism industry and protecting the tourism resources for the next generations.

Nevşehir University Faculty of Tourism was founded in 1984 in Nevşehir in the centre of Cappadocia region which is our country’s natural cultural heritage and unique with its geographical structure, historical and cultural wealth. Being one of the most long-standing tourism schools in Turkey, our faculty continues to provide tourism managers for the leading tourism businesses in Turkey while raising individuals with academic skills countrywide through its vast accumulation of experience and knowledge in tourism education.

Faculty of Tourism has four departments: Tourism Management, Tourism Guidance, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and Recreation. Doctoral and master level education is also provided. Faculty of Tourism aims to raise middle and upper level skilled tourism manager candidates, tourist guides, and manager chefs for tourism enterprises and tourism industry by providing contemporary, scientific, and quality education.

The students who complete 4-years bachelor level programs graduate having learned Opera Hotel Automation System, Sejour Agency Automations System, Galileo Central Reservation System (GDS), and Micros Food and Beverage programs, having acquired competence in two foreign languages and possessed the qualification of analytical thinking. Our students have already completed their domestic and overseas job training, and gained essential academic and industrial knowledge and skills upon graduation.

The students of our faculty have the opportunity to continue their studies for one or two semesters in various universities which offer tourism program through Farabi Student Exchange Program in Turkey, Erasmus Student Exchange Program abroad, and Mevlana Student Exchange Program both in Turkey and abroad provided that they meet certain criteria.

I hope to see students who aim to follow a career in tourism for tourism education at the Faculty of Tourism of Nevşehir University. I congratulate those students who have preferred our faculty, and wish a successful academic year.
